2017-2 to 4 Miscellaneous Solar Photos

The solar install took a lot of time and patience to complete. The bus project was put on hold for a while until I could gather up the time and resources to complete it. I’m happy to be over that major hurdle, though. I’m very proud of the results.

The following photos are really just a bonus feature of the 30+ minute long video that I posted about my install. These photos won’t really add much to that, but are still worth posting.

This is my completed battery box.

Notice the weather seal around the rim and the black vent in the back.

Installing the shunt just below the inverter, above the battery box, in between the positive and negative bus bars.  In the background you can see my charge controller.

A schematic of my solar system. This is not the final version.

Inverter in the foreground.  Up above is the DC distribution panel.

All of the panels with their mounting hardware installed.  You can see the other two in the background by the table saw.

First panel mounted in place, not yet wired.  The combiner box is pictured in the foreground.  The wires that come out of the combiner box are already strung through the roof at this point.

Second panel installed.  Under that metal paint tray to the left is the combiner box, which had a leak.

Third panel, looking good.  View from the back looking forward.

View from the front looking to the rear.

Solar all wired up, but no panels or batteries attached yet.  Also, no AC outlet installed off the inverter yet.  The two parallel fuses between the charge controller and inverter are 110 amp DC fuses (might be too big).

The wire from the combiner box comes down through this hole in the roof, and passes through this switch.

After everything got hooked up, I needed to install my battery monitor to test it.  Everything is looking good!  The system works!
